‘July’ is the final single from Wunderhorse’s upcoming album, Midas. It’s a huge-sounding track, with loud, crunchy guitars at its forefront and ferocious cymbals clattering away at the top of the mix. Frontman Jacob Slater’s voice is emotive and passionate, filled with that same blend of passion and melody that his grungy influences were able to attain. On the track’s impressively big, raw sound, the band say: “When we first went into the studio to make this record, the only thing we were sure about is how we wanted it to sound; very imperfect, very live, very raw; no frills,” Slater says. “We wanted it to sound like your face is pressed up against the amplifiers, like you've been locked inside the bass drum.” It was recorded at Pachyderm Studio in Minnesota, and we're not sure about you, but we can almost hear the remnants of In Utero flowing through it… The new album from Wunderhorse, Midas, will drop on August 30th, 2024. -Dan Peeke
